ABOUT THE EVENT /

JOIN US FOR THE
15th Annual Fishin' Chicks

The event was started in 2010 by Laurie and Jeff Soderlund. Laurie had been was diagnosed with breast cancer and they wanted to become advocates for breast health.
They committed to 10 years of a fishing fundraiser on Spider Lake in Iron River, WI.
The community rallied around them, the event grew, and in a decade they raised $100,000.
In 2020, the Soderlunds passed the torch and the event was moved to the Pike Lake Chain.
Sadly, Laurie passed away just before the 2020 event.
For 2 years, the event raised an additional $10,000 each year.
In each
2022 and 2023, we raised a staggering $20,000, bringing the
Grand Total to $160,000 donated to help women wih breast cancer.
Due to ice conditions the '23 the fishing was moved to Moon Lake Park which proved to be the perfect spot.
Moon Lake is relatively small - making it feel even more like a community event. With it's close proximity to the Community Center, we decided to make t
hat our permanent Fishin' Chicks home.

People everywhere have come to love Fishin' Chicks.
During our event, everyone is allowed to participate but
only LADIES can compete in the fishing tournament.
The event is designed to bring awareness to breast health and raise money for compassion care for breast cancer patients.
It takes place on a free state wide fishing day so no license is required.
The MEN do the work so the ladies can play.
